Vodafone New Zealand

Vodafone New Zealand is part of one of the world's largest mobile telecommunications companies, Vodafone Group Plc.

Established in the UK in 1983, Vodafone now has equity interests in 26 countries over five continents and partner networks in a further 10 countries. As of September 30 2003, Vodafone had more than 125 million proportionate customers around the world.

Vodafone Group Plc acquired its New Zealand business in November 1998 (previously known as BellSouth New Zealand). At the time of purchase, BellSouth had 138,000 customers.Vodafone now has 1.429 million customers and a network covering 97 per cent of where the population work and play.

Vodafone New Zealand acquired the full Gamma NetOne software application with the aim to reduce the time to market for their GPRS services.

The existing OSS architecture in place did not allow Vodafone New Zealand to perform or track upgrades to existing network elements.  Gamma Projects were ultimately asked to replace the existing system with Gamma NetOne.  Gamma NetOne enabled Vodafone New Zealand to track upgrades to multiple sites and record additions of equipment and equipment movements as well as take vital market share as a direct result of a rapid rollout.

Gamma Projects performed all of the data migration and cleansing required by Vodafone New Zealand (there were seven separate data sources), helped re-engineer their business processes and implemented regional training for 100 users. In addition we also provided programme management resources to Vodafone New Zealand to assist them in reviewing their existing business and reporting strategies.
